President-elect Ross Meyer, pictured here hugging running mate Liz Simonhoff after hearing election results last month, was disqualified from the Undergraduate Student Government presidential race Friday after a complaint was filed by his opponent, Richard Sales.
President-elect Ross Meyer and Vice President-elect Liz Simonhoff have been disqualified from the Undergraduate Student Government election, effective today at 4 p.m., after they were cited for a major campaign violation.

Meyer and Simonhoff were disqualified because they did not turn in a campaign-expense form before the March 7 run-off election.
Presidential runner-up Richard Sales and vice presidential runner-up Craig Zoebisch filed a complaint against Meyer and Simonhoff over the expense report March 13.

Downtown dining options going global

Students attending ASU's Downtown Phoenix campus in fall 2006 will eat at a "global cafe" with food provided by Sodexho, administrators announced Friday.

Sodexho, the largest food-management company in North America, also provides food services for the Tempe campus, but its contract is up for renewal in July 2007.

Hoops: Sendek to take reins

ASU silenced weeks of speculation when it came to an agreement with North Carolina State coach Herb Sendek to become its new men's basketball coach Saturday, according to a CBS report between Final Four games.

The agreement happened quickly, with little mention of Sendek's name as a possible candidate in the weeks leading up to the decision. ASU Athletic Director Lisa Love will officially announce Rob Evans' successor in a press conference at 10 a.m. today. The new coach will be in Tempe for two days before returning home. The Sun Devils began their search with Pittsburgh coach Jamie Dixon, who ultimately signed an extension with the Panthers.

It was an up and down weekend for the ASU women's golf team as it hosted 15 other squads at the PING/ASU Invitational at Karsten Golf Course. Up because the No. 3 Sun Devils charged out of the gates to shoot a 5-under 283 and take a five-stroke lead after Friday's opening round.

Political Passion

On the cover
Sitting in an office in his campaign headquarters in Scottsdale, Len Munsil looks like the consummate politician. He wears a black suit, with a navy tie over his white collared shirt. Every hair on his head is in place. He crosses one leg over the other as he leans back in his chair. He slowly taps his fingers on the desk as he thinks, planning out the precise order of words before he speaks.

Looking around the office, there is no indication Munsil is gearing up for the biggest race of his life. Munsil, 42, hopes to win the Republican nomination for governor of Arizona. If he wins the primary in September, he will face current Democratic governor Janet Napolitano in November.

Racked: Promising Print

With all the construction on campus for buildings dedicated to science, most people know about the University's intentions to become a major scientific research center. What many people are unaware of, however, are the efforts of a few undergraduates to showcase the more creative elements present at ASU. Such efforts have included the founding of two magazines focusing on the literary and artistic talents of ASU undergraduates Lux and Marooned.
