Tempe's resident melodic rock band Ember Coast enjoys spending quality time with the Cartoon Network. When the members aren't in front of the TV, the band is promoting its new album, Up. Ember Coast's members are singer Sean Brennan, guitarist Nathan Hardy, bassist Jason Hardy and drummer Ethan Pajak. SPM caught up with Brennan and Nathan Hardy to discuss cartoons, comics and refrigerator must-haves.

SPM: When you're not making music, what shows are you watching?

Brennan: "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" on the Cartoon Network. The artists are incredible, and their humor is so off the wall. The acid-jazz type music is also really good. Besides, what college student wouldn't find a cartoon about superhero food absolutely hilarious?

SPM: When you aren't playing music what do you do?

Hardy: Most of the time I do sketches of cartoon and comic characters. If I am ever bored or have free time I just pull out a piece of paper and draw whatever is on my mind. Hey, at least if this music thing doesn't work out, I have something to fall back on.

SPM: So, you've been reading comics for a while?

Hardy: Yeah. I have a huge collection of comics, and I have always thought about what life would be like as a comic character. I am a fan of the independent comics like "Scud" the "Disposable Assassin."

SPM: Where is your favorite place to hang out after a show?

Brennan: We aren't really party people, so we normally just relax at home. Most of the time, we just wear pajamas after shows and go over to one of the guy's houses and watch the "Scream" movies. If we do go out and party, we go big. So if we don't remember anything from the night before, it must have been a fun night.

SPM: What three things must you always have in your refrigerator?

Brennan: Frozen pizza, Coca-Cola and water. The best meal in the world is Coke and pizza, because you can eat it at any time of the day. I would say water because I guess I should be somewhat healthy.

Hardy: For me, it would be water, beer and more beer. I can't cook to save my life, so I always go to my girlfriend's house to get something to eat.
