Wednesday, Oct. 5
As hard as it is to believe, you can do something free in Tempe at night and near Mill Avenue. On Wednesday, Oct. 5 you can watch the Academy Award-winning film "Million Dollar Baby" at Tempe Beach Park for free, courtesy of the city of Tempe. "Million Dollar Baby" is the first in a series of free flicks put on as part of Tempe's first annual "Reels & Wheels" Wednesday night movie series. The wheels part of the name means that those who ride the bus or bike to the movie will be eligible to win free prizes donated by Ehrhardt's Schwinn, IKEA, Slices Pizza and more. The series continues each Wednesday through Nov. 9. Other movies to be shown are: "Top Gun," "Tommy Boy," "Friday Night Lights," "Hitch" and "Raiders of the Lost Ark." All the flicks are rated PG or PG-13, so you can bring your kid sister. The movie starts at dusk. See www.tempe.gov/pkrec/movie.htm.
