Jared Mercier, a bachelor of interdisciplinary studies junior and ASU Filmmaker Association member, makes independent movies on campus and hopes the University will add a film degree to the Katherine K. Herberger College of Fine Arts.
ASU may soon offer a degree in film and a degree in film and media studies grounded in exploring media ethics.

The program is waiting for approval from the provost's office. The Academic Senate will vote on the proposal next month. If the University approves the program and funding, the proposal is expected to go to the Arizona Board of Regents in April for final approval.

Legislature debating underage drinking bill

If a bill in the state Legislature passes, purchasing alcohol for people under age 21 will have your car collecting dust.

The bill introduced by Rep. Michelle Reagan, R-District 8, which includes Scottsdale, Fountain Hills and Rio Verde, would suspend someone's driver's license if he or she bought alcohol for a minor.

ASU health insurance to add meningitis vaccines soon

ASU student health insurance will soon cover vaccinations for meningitis, a highly contagious and dangerous disease common to college dorms.

The Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices released a statement requiring all universities to recommend the vaccine to its incoming freshmen living on campus.

Benjamin Franklin once said the only certainties in life are death and taxes.

For the ASU baseball team, defeating UA the last five years has been awfully close to certain. Since 2000, ASU has compiled a 16-4 record against UA. The No. 11 Sun Devils hope to continue their dominance today in a non-conference game at No. 10 UA.

It's a quiet night in a Chicago diner.

A cook and a waitress don't have much work, so they head to the storeroom, which is brimming with boxes packed with ketchup, coffee beans and maple syrup.

The cook looks around before he puts his hand in the waitress' white, button-up blouse. After a few seconds, he gets a bit nervous.
POP CULTURE

Liquor minus liquid

Your head throbs rhythmically and stomach pains churn like you've just eaten three Taco Bell bean burritos. One look at the rays of sun that slice through the blinds sends you diving under the covers with a sudden desire to vomit.

For some college students, these symptoms are all too familiar after an intense night of drinking, making hangover prevention and cures a hot topic.
