Res Life to hand out free iPods

A new Residential Life giveaway may be music to some residents' ears.

This year, Residential Life is offering free MP3 players if eligible students apply by 5 p.m. Friday.

Students applying for housing renewals for next year at the Commons at ASU and certain wings of Cholla, Best, Hayden, Irish, Mariposa, Ocotillo and Sahuaro halls will be eligible to receive a free Apple iPod Mini or Dell Music DJ.

Club for students over 70, but young at heart

ASU students are proving that age is no boundary in education -- 27 students over the age of 70 are enrolled in classes.

Scholars +, an ASU association formed in September, was founded by undeclared graduate student Jean Andre, who re-enrolled at ASU this fall at age 70.

Sun Devils to begin 7-game homestand

While postseason play doesn't start until March, the month of December will play a huge role in determining the fate of the ASU men's basketball team.

The Sun Devils (4-1) will start a seven-game homestand Saturday when they take on the Cal State Northridge Matadors (1-4).

Ike shows off at right time, right place

PHILADELPHIA -- Not bashful around reporters, ASU junior forward Ike Diogu has developed a knack for speaking his mind without tipping his hand.

He's not perfect, though. His poker face doesn't always take hold.

It's impossible for Diogu not to have known there were at least a couple NBA scouts in attendance Tuesday at the Liacouras Center, where ASU celebrated a 65-62 win over Temple.

Butch Walker Self-deprecating rocker Location: Georgia Butch Walker loved heavy metal in his youth. He played in bands, but as he grew older so did his tastes. He then founded punk-influenced pop band Marvelous 3. That band had one huge single, "Freak of the Week," and then broke up.
