Party scene comes to life for extra hour

Matt Hinshaw
A group of ASU seniors celebrate the new 2 a.m. last call as the clock turns over 1 a.m. on Tuesday at Maloney’s on University Drive.
Tempe bars were packed Tuesday night as people took advantage of the new 2 a.m. last call.

Dos Gringos, at 1001 E. Eighth St., put on a special 2 a.m. party. The bar also offered drink specials such as two-dollar margaritas.

About 2,000 people were in and out of the bar Tuesday night, said Henry Sabens, a Dos Gringos bouncer and an engineering junior.

Police: a quiet night for first 2 a.m. last call

Local authorities dealt with the same problems at a different hour Tuesday night as Tempe bars kept the taps flowing until 2 a.m. for the first time.

Police officials from ASU and Tempe said they did not expect that an extra hour of liquor sales would lure more bar-hoppers downtown.

"Any increase in DUI arrests I would attribute to the added emphasis our department is placing on enforcing it," said ASU police Cmdr. John Sutton.

The new craze in cosmetic surgery is not bigger breasts, calf implants or a straighter nose, but cosmetic foot surgeries.

Credit Card Check

Free T-shirts, frisbees, and even pizza. The allure of something free draws in even the smartest of students. And that's exactly what they want. No, I'm not talking about ASASU elections; I'm talking about the numerous credit card companies on campus targeting students.
